Development Story

Distylium has become a huge success in the landscape since the first patented cultivar introductions of Blue Cascade (‘PIIDIST-II’ PP24,409) and Emerald Heights (‘PIIDIST-I’ PP24,410) by Michael A Dirr and his work at the University of Georgia.

Care and Planting

Care and Planting

Plant distylium on a gentle slope instead of low-growing juniper for a long-lasting, trouble-free flow of evergreen foliage in the garden all year long. Pair with shrubs in complementary colors, Ech® Peachy Keen Azalea, Baby Lace® Hydrangea, and Frostberry Delight® Rabbiteye Blueberry. Include a variety of summer-blooming annuals & perennials for additional color in the landscape. The blooms can then be paired with the unique foliage of the distylium to make stunning cut-flower arrangements.
